Who is allowed to sing ?ANYONE can sing karaoke. It does not matter if you have a great voice or not. The whole purpose of singing karaoke is to showcase your talent, big or small. Since we are all nervous the first few times we do karaoke please be courteous to those new singers. Try to keep the noise down as much as possible while others are singing. Also, do not sing along with them unless they indicate so. This is their
moment to shine and you will have yours. Back to Table of Contents Got another question? EMAIL us!

What is the proper Karaoke etiquette ?DUETS: These are counted as a turn for each person singing in the current rotation. For instance, if John asks Mary to sing a song with her, it counts as John's song and Mary's. Duets are never counted singly. It is not fair to the others who are waiting to sing. Groups of more then two persons singing will also each have used their one turn in the current rotation. We also do not allow any-one to
just take an extra microphone to start singing with someone
unless, the
original singer says that it is alright. If they do sing along they will
lose their next turn in the rotation. from getting extra turns by constantly doing duets with other singers.
YOUR OWN DISCS: Please look thru our song lists and see if we have the same song as you do on your own disc. If so, please do not use your disc. Our books are coded based on the manufacturers codes. If you have your own discs you know what the codes are.
MICROPHONE ETIQUETTE: Our microphones are made to sing right into the top, approximately 1" from the center top of the microphone. Singing across the top or into the side of the microphone takes away from the quality of sound, and also causes the host to have to turn the microphone volume up so high that it can cause feedback. The worst way to hold the microphone is to cup it. Cupping the microphone is when you wrap your hand around the head of the microphone and basically sing into your hand. This prohibits your host from being able to mix your voice to make you sound the best you can. This also can cause feed-back and if a singer continues to practice this way of holding the microphone the wrong way we will ask them to refrain from doing it or we will stop the song to protect our equipment. When is it my next time to sing when there are many singers ?After starting with an opening song we will take the first slip received to establish the start of the rotation. The rotation continues through the list of singers (which includes first time singers) before it returns to the starting point. The order of the rotation is based on the order slips are received. We will only accept ONE slip from any one individual at a time. Once you come up to sing you may then turn in your next slip. If you wish to drop out of the rotation at any time please let us know so we can remove your slip. New singers are alternately added into the rotation with those already in the established rotation. Basically new-old, new-old, sometimes it becomes necessary to add two new to every old singer. It is best to arrive early and get a slip in as quickly as possible.
